1. WHAT ARE LIP FILLERS?
Lip fillers are most commonly made with Hyaluronic Acid (abbreviated HA) – a substance naturally produced within the body that attracts moisture and can hold up to 1000 times its weight. When injected with hyaluronic acid, you’ll instantly see plumper, fuller lips.
Hyaluronic acid is used frequently as a soft tissue filler (aka lips) due to its bio-compatibility and reversibility. HA is found in most connective tissues, synovial fluid, the vitreous fluid of the eye, and umbilical cords in humans.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the most popular choice among your many injectable lip treatment choices. HA fillers instantly plump the lips when injected while also stimulating your skin’s natural collagen production. HA fillers are safer and provide more immediate effects than many other fillers alternatives, such as collagen.
Plump lips are one of the most common cosmetic treatments that women get. Kylie Jenner, among others, is well known for her very full lips. For many, that plump lip look is a must-have beauty treatment.
2. DIFFERENT COSMETIC LIP FILLERS TYPES?
Many different types of cosmetic fillers are used for lip enhancement. Some of the more well-known Fillers for Lips Injectables include:
- HA FILLERS FOR LIPS: (Last 3 to 6 Months)
- COLLAGEN FILLERS FOR LIPS: (Last up to 5 Years)
- PERMANENT SILICONE FILLERS FOR LIPS
- Silikon 1000
- Polycraft Silskin 10
- OTHER CHEMISTRY FILLERS FOR LIPS:
Which one is best? The choice is yours. Kylie Jenner is reported to have said, “I like to use Juvéderm for the lips because it’s made from hyaluronic acid. That means it retains and absorbs water, so it’s specifically great for lips.” (1)
At Sandia Skin + Face, we recommend Juvederm and Sculptra for your Lip Fillers choice.
3. LIP FILLERS SWELLING STAGES AFTER A PROCEDURE?
The results of the fillers treatment are almost immediate. You will notice a considerable difference in the volume of your lips as soon as the treatment is finished. However, the results of the final filler will remain hidden under the swelling and bruising during the first few days.
The swelling from the injection is far more noticeable on the lips than elsewhere on the face. The HA fillers are binding to water underneath the skin, causing the lips to get plump. Additionally, the injections can cause bruising and bleeding underneath the skin, which means swelling. Swelling is a part of the healing process. Please don’t overly stress out about the swelling for the first few days.
First 2 Days: During the first two days, you might feel very anxious. Your lips will look huge because of the swelling. You might have trouble eating or drinking, but remember, this is just temporary.
Days 3 & 4: You will start seeing some bruises on and around your lips and may feel lumps on your lips. The bruises and lumps will go away over the next week.
Days 4 thru 7: By the time a whole week has passed, the bruising and lumps on and around the lips should have disappeared. Your lips will be approaching their final look.
Days 8 thru 14: The lip swelling should be gone by day 14. The size of your lips will also decrease a little during this period. However, this is the time when you start seeing the final results of the fillers treatment. If the swelling persists after day 14, immediately contact our office.
4. IS LIP FILLERS JUVEDERM AN OPTION?
Juvederm is a cosmetic treatment referred to as fillers. Juvederm is used to restore facial contours and improve signs of aging. Juvederm is an injectable dermal filler with a base of hyaluronic acid (HA). Juvederm is used in treatments that focus on the face, specifically the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based (HA) dermal filler with several products in the Juvederm family. All Juvederm products help people address the facial signs of aging. Each Juvederm product features different bonding and concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA). The other Juvederm products are each tailored to target specific problems when injected into different areas and depths. Every Juvederm filler has a smooth, gel-like consistency.
