1. WHAT IS MICRODERMABRASION?
Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to sand your skin gently. It removes the thicker, uneven outer layer and has many benefits. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks.
Microdermabrasion is useful for people with dull or sallow skin, mild acne, acne discoloration, pick marks, and very superficial acne scars.
Many say a treatment feels like a gritty facial massage – meaning minor discomfort. For a day or two afterward, you might feel you have a mild sunburn. Otherwise, you’ll be able to go about your day right after your treatment with no one any wiser about what you’ve had done.
The results from this exfoliating treatment last for up to one month or longer if your skin condition is good. Your skin regenerates every 30 days. Therefore, the effects of microdermabrasion are temporary and the treatments need to be repeated every two to four weeks. On average, it takes between six to twelve sessions for a person to see drastic results from microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion is an immensely popular skin treatment done at your favorite Medical Spa (Sandia Skin + Face), skin spa, or at your dermatologist’s office.
2. WHAT MICRODERMABRASION FACIAL?
There are two methods of microdermabrasion.
The original method uses a microdermabrasion facial, uses micro-fine crystals that are shot from a small tube onto your skin and simultaneously vacuumed back up. Think of this as working as a high-powered scrub.
The newer method is crystal-free and instead uses a diamond-tipped wand to exfoliate instead.
We can think the difference between the two treatments of as the crystal method being “sandblasting,” and the diamond method being “sandpapering.” While the crystal treatment is the traditional microdermabrasion treatment, it is slowly being phased out and replaced by the newer system of diamond-tipped wand Microderm. Diamond-tipped wands have been safer and more precise, and are a great option for clients with any skin condition.
We use Diamond Glow Microdermabrasion equipment. Diamond Glow Microdermabrasion combines exfoliation, extraction, and infusion to refresh the skin. Diamond Glow enhances exfoliation to remove impurities from pores and deliver nourishing serums. Patients can choose from varying grades of exfoliating tips to accommodate their skin types.
A single microdermabrasion treatment will leave your skin feeling soft and looking radiant. A series of treatments can improve your skin’s texture. Diamond Glow improves skin tone, reduce fine wrinkles, sun damage, acne, acne scars, enlarged pores, and reduce visible stretch marks.
The actual microdermabrasion procedure is quick—it takes just 15 to 30 minutes.
