WHAT is SKINVIVETM?

SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® helps your skin retain its softness and natural moisture, which can lead to an improvement in the smoothness of your cheeks.

Skinvive is referred to by many as a “skin booster” rather than a filler since its role isn’t to rebuild volume like other fillers. Instead, SKINVIVE hydrates your skin to help give you a glowing skin look that lasts for up to six months.

Clinical studies have shown that patients treated with SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® reported high levels of satisfaction with how refreshed, glowing, and hydrated their skin looked after 6 months.

THE SCIENCE of SKINVIVE™ by JUVEDERM

In your readings, you may have learned that hyaluronic acid (HA) is often an ingredient in moisturizing creams or serums. SKINVIVETM by JUVÉDERM® uses a modified HA that keeps your skin hydrated, healthy-looking, and glowing.

HA, a naturally occurring water-attracting molecule in your skin, decreases with age and exposure to the sun. SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® supplies microdroplets of hyaluronic acid to help address the negative effects of age and sun to help with texture changes and dullness.

SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is U.S. FDA-Approved

On May 15, 2023, Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company (NYSE: ABBV), announced the U.S. FDA approval of SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks in adults over the age of 21. SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is the first and only hyaluronic acid (HA) intradermal microdroplet injection for skin smoothness available in the U.S. with results shown to last through six months with optimal treatment.

THE SKINVIVE™ MICRODROPLET TECHNIQUE

As a “microdroplet” facial injectable, SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is injected beneath the skin using numerous very small injection points. Each injection is spaced about 0.5-1 cm apart, spanning the treatment area. Skinvive diffuses within the skin, thus helping to improve the smoothness and hydration of your skin and impart an overall “glow”.

FAQ


Do not use SKINVIVE if you have a history of severe reactions (anaphylaxis), a history or presence of multiple severe allergies, if you are allergic to lidocaine or the Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in SKINVIVE, or if you have had previous allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers.

One of the risks with dermal filler injection is the unintentional injection into a blood vessel. The chances of this occurring are very small, but if it does happen, the complications can be serious and possibly permanent. These complications, which have been reported for facial injections, can include vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or permanent scarring of your skin. Most of these complications are irreversible. Tell your specialist immediately if you have changes in your vision, signs of a stroke (including sudden difficulty speaking, numbness or weakness in your face, arms, or legs, difficulty with walking, any face drooping, severe headaches, any dizziness, or confusion), white appearance of the skin, or unusual pain during or shortly after treatment

  • Minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment. Exposure to any of these may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site
  • Tell your doctor if you are using any medication that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners. As with any injection, this may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site
  • Tell your doctor if you are planning laser treatment, chemical peeling, or any other procedure after SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®. There is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site
  • This product is intended to improve the smoothness of the cheeks. The safety and effectiveness of treatment in other areas of the body have not been established
  • Tell your doctor if you are on therapy used to decrease the body’s immune response. Use may result in an increased risk of infection
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The safety for use during pregnancy or in women who are breastfeeding has not been studied
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of excessive scarring (thick, hard scars). The safety of this product in patients with a history of excessive scarring has not been studied and may result in additional scars
  • Tell your specialist if you have a history of pigmentation disorders, as the use of this product in patients with a history of pigmentation disorders has not been studied and may result in changes in pigmentation
  • The most commonly reported side effects were redness, lumps and bumps, swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, firmness, discoloration, and itching. Most side effects will resolve within 7 days. If they persist longer, your physician may choose to treat them with medications, such as antibiotics, steroids, or hyaluronidase. Additionally, there have been reports of inflammation, nodules, unsatisfactory results, loss or lack of improvement, allergic reaction, anxiety, blood vessel blockage, infection, dry skin, increase or decrease in sensation, and abscess.
  • Delayed-onset inflammation near the site of dermal filler injections is one of the known adverse events associated with dermal fillers. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Since SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is hyaluronic acid, it is technically a filler. However, the modified hyaluronic acid in SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is designed to improve cheek smoothness and hydrate from within for smooth texture and a radiant glow—without changing your face shape or volume. 

A treatment with SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® has minimal downtime, especially compared with other skin quality treatment recovery times that can stretch up to 2 weeks.

SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®, on average, takes about 15 minutes to inject. This time estimate does not include consultation plus evaluation time.

The results of SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® are clinically proven to last up to 6 months with optimal treatment. An optional touch-up may be needed to achieve the desired visual effect, so we recommend seeing your licensed specialist every 6 months to see if you should get a follow-up treatment.

    The office staff is super accommodating and helpful, and Dr. Tuggle and Tonya Tuggle are both wonderful at what they do. I have had multiple procedures/treatments here over the years and highly recommend them. I never feel uncomfortable or judged, which is huge when deciding on cosmetic procedures. I also never felt pressured into anything and always felt informed about all of my decisions. They have great seasonal specials on fillers, etc!

  • Tonya is amazing!! She made me feel so comfortable and really listened to my concerns about my skin. She really cares and knows what she is doing. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!! I was concerned my first appointment but I just had my third and I can say it’s so worth it!!! Botox has been an incredible experience and I’m so happy to have tried it, I’m so much happier with my appearance and it looks incredibly natural. I’ve included before and after photos, neither photo is filtered or edited, you can see how makeup would collect in my forehead, and how the after it’s smooth and looks so lovely. It doesn’t feel weird or like I can’t move my muscles at all, it feels super natural. One of my biggest concerns was that I wouldn’t be able to emote with Botox but that’s just not true at all. I feel so confident and that is thanks to Tonya!

Before your treatment session, our specialist will discuss what to expect during your treatment. However, it is helpful to remember that there are a few things to take into consideration before your session:

  • Multiple microdroplet injections—where a tiny amount of product is injected just below the skin—are performed on each cheek by a specialist
  • During your appointment, your licensed specialist should explain the procedure and provide after-care directions
  • Lidocaine, a common pain reliever (you get it at the dentist), is an ingredient in SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® to keep you comfortable
